Air
Indian airlines flies to Babatpur airport, which is 22kms from Varanasi and 30 kms from Sarnath. There is a direct daily flight connection between Varanasi and New Delhi. It also connects Varansi to Delhi, Agra, Khajuraho, Calcutta, Bombay, Lucknow and Bhubaneshwar. Airport/city coach transfer is available from/to Indian Airlines office. Rail
Varanasi is an important and major rail junction. The city is served by trains from all metros and major cities across the country. New Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Gwalior, Meerut, Indore, Guwahati, Allahabad, Lucknwow, Dehradun…the city has direct rail connections. Some important stations are Kashi Vishwanath Express (Varanasi-Delhi), Shramjivi Express (Patna-Varanasi-Delhi), Farakka Express (Malda Town-Varanasi-Bhiwani), Saryu-Yamuna Express (Muzzafarpur-Varanasi-Delhi) etc.From Mughal Sarai Station - Rajdhani Express (Howrah-Mugha Sarai-Delhi), Toofan express (Howrah-Mughal Sarai_Delhi), North East Super Fast Express (Delhi-Mughal Sarai-Guwahati), Magadh Express (Delhi-Mughal sarai-Patna). 

Road
Varanasi, on National Highway NH2 from Calcutaa to Delhi, NH7to Kanya Kumari, and NH29 to Gorakhpur is connected literally to the rest of the country by good motorable, all-weather roads. Some important road distances are: Agra 565 kms, Allahabad 128 kms, Bhopal 791 kms, Bodhgaya 240 kms, Kanpur 330 kms, Khajuraho 405 kms, Lucknow 286 kms, patna 246 kms, Sarnath 10 kms, Lumbini 386 kms.

Local Transport
Taxis: No yellow top taxis are available. Private taxis are available from travel agencies, hotels, etc, the rates of which are negotiable. Unmetered auto rickshaws and tempos are also readily available.
